Coral

Is Coral a plant or animal? Both. It is part plant and animal. The animal part eats at night when the plankton come down to the coral. The other part eats during the day with photosynthesis. Most coral grows really slow. It could take 40 years for it to grow 1-2 feet, and like 5 years for it to grow 1-2 inches. However there is some coral that grows way faster, but not in the wild. There are tons of different coral like Brain coral, Plate coral and way much more. Coral takes a lot of time to grow. Coral is dieing and becoming endangered from pollution. There is all ready enough trouble from Parrot fish. If you see coral, don't touch it, coral is very delicate, so just admire it.

The Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef is located off the east cost of Australia and has over 2,900 individual reefs. It is really warm all the time around the year. The average temperature or climate is 28.5 degrees Celsius (around 80 degrees Fahrenheit). Some of the resources could be sponges and some fish to eat and water. The main organism is coral. There are clams and a lot of fish. Habitats could be little spaces in between rocks, crevasses, holes, caves and sea anemones (for clown fish). The depth is as deep as 9000 miles deep. It extends 2000 km. down the coast of Queensland.
